About this app

one sec forces you to take a deep breath whenever you open distracting apps.

It’s as simple as effective: You will reduce your social media usage just by becoming aware of it. one sec is the focus app that tackles the problem of unconscious social media use at its root. It is designed to change your habits on a long-term basis.

one sec works so great because it is fully automated – and forces you to reflect on your actions – while they happen.

🤳 Balanced social media use
App usage drops by 57% on average thanks to one sec – proven by science!

🧑‍💻 Productivity
Having two more weeks per year not spent on social media – to work on your projects & to recharge!

🙏 Mental health
High social media usage is often related to depression and anxiety symptoms.

⚡️ ADHD relief
Users praise one sec as the “holy grail for ADHD relief”.

🏃 Sports
Studies have shown that reduced social media use leads to increased sport activity.

🚭 Quit smoking
Studies have shown that reduced social media use leads to reduced smoking behavior.

💰 Save money
Prevent impulse purchases with one sec.

🛌 Sleep better
Prevent scrolling mindlessly before you go to bed and right after waking up.

With one sec, you‘ll notice both a short-term and long-term effect on your social media usage:

1. Unconscious phone habits are prevented right away (“Why did I even want to open that app?”) and
2. Long-term habits change because these apps appear less appealing to your brain (their “dopamine on demand” effect fades away).

one sec is also available for your desktop web browser: https://tutorials.one-sec.app/browser-extension-installation

We have made one sec free to use with one app!

If you would like to use one sec with multiple apps, please upgrade to one sec pro. You’ll also get access to lots of additional features and customization options.

This effect has been confirmed in a study with the University of Heidelberg and Max Planck Institute where we detected a reduction of social media usage by 57% thanks to one sec. Read our peer-reviewed paper: https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2213114120

This app glitches too much while functioning. Eg.: The blocked app opens up and then on pressing back while exiting the app, the block screen pops up. All permissions are given and numerous times I have reset it but nothing gets sorted. The issue remains. If you could rectify the bugs, I would buy the premium.

Great app, let's me pause before opening distracting apps and switch to doing something else, without barring me from accessing the apps. It needs some improvement though: 1. The app often argues with the split screen (it somehow uses it to override the other apps), and in doing so it restarts constantly, so I have to shut down the distracting app and try again. 2. With tiktok it doesn't stop it from opening, so I usually have a glimpse of a video, get interested, and I just wait out one sec

Great idea. Unfortunately, the app does not have all the features of the iOs version. In addition, I could easily circumvent the blocking function, by switching to the app I want to use when the breathing exercise is displayed. Stumbled upon it by accident - now I am back in the doomscrolling-loop. (I am using the before launcher)

We’ve started developing the Android version one year after the iOS app has been released. But we're trying to catch up asap. Stay tuned! We are aware of the bug and have launched a new beta version that hopefully fixes the bug. If not, please contact unserem Customer Support
