About this app

Based on the latest research in cognitive science & AI, Lingvist quickly predicts your current level & identifies which words will be most useful for you to learn next.

You can now learn 15 languages from English, including the culturally rich Japanese, Korean and learn Scandinavian languages Swedish, Danish or Norwegian.

Use Lingvist FREE for 14 days!

Lingvist helps you cultivate a healthy routine and lets you know once you’ve exceeded the optimal amount of daily study time. It keeps you challenged and tracks your progress using AI.

With the help of an intelligent AI-powered spaced repetition algorithm that continuously learns from our user base, Lingvist presents you problems that are on the tip of your tongue, just as you’re about to forget them.

Lingvist is designed for people who want to take their comprehension to the next level. Alongside a deck based on the most frequently used words in your target language, you can tailor the course with handcrafted decks in specialist subjects, ensuring that you’ll be ready for the language encounters relevant to you.

You can even prepare to have comfortable conversations about niche topics by uploading a textbook or Wikipedia article and having Lingvist generate a custom deck based on the content. Both custom and built-in Lingvist decks present your target vocabulary in a variety of realistic settings.

Lingvist doesn’t replace the most fun part of learning a language – speaking it with real people – instead, it will give you a firm foundation of vocabulary, with grammar tips concisely integrated into the experience, allowing you to rely on whichever balance of intuition and logic suits you best.

If you want to reach your language learning goals faster, whether it's fluency, pronunciation, confidence, or more technical vocabulary, there’s no app like Lingvist. From beginner to advanced user, there’s always a new idiom or grammatical structure to learn.

Full courses are available in European or Latin American Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Korean, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Polish and Estonian. Speakers of other languages (Simplified Chinese, Dutch, Turkish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Russian, Estonian, Thai, Hindi, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Polish, Arabic and Ukrainian) can also learn English grammar and business English vocabulary with Lingvist.

No wonder users keep saying, “This is the best vocabulary app I’ve ever had!”

update: it contains a free trial, but most of the app is locked behind a paywall. I understand the need to earn revenue and since they do it really well I can't complain about it. still, I can't pay for it right now so I'll have to go back to avocards 😭 past review below most Korean vocabulary flashcard learning apps are fairly straightforward and repetitive, but if you're a beginner it exposes you to how those words are used in sentences, and makes you get used to typing in Korean! 10/10

Thank you for the review. Lingvist is indeed a paid app (we offer a free trial period of 14 days). Our technology is one of the best in the world for vocabulary building, and we add new languages on a regular basis, which requires investing. The trial period can be extended via hello@lingvist.io, if you're interested.

This app is useful, but it can be improved significantly. 2 things missing: 1) Desks should have the option to be ordered, so "General Language" desk will first show you the most simple/frequent words and then move on to more advanced/rare words. Right now it seems to be random, I get a lot of words out of my level. 2) Words that you "learned" should pop up from time to time, to check if you still remember them. I forget a lot of hard and rare words after a while, and need reminders.

Hi Egor, in fact, that is exactly how Lingvist works: vocabulary in the General deck is ordered in difficulty, and all the words you practice will return for practice depending on your correct answer rate. You might still be in the level examination, which is probably why you are seeing "random" words.

Best way to raise your vocabulary. Platform is way better (especially website) than Speakly (too much bugs) but price 3 times higher for Lifetime. So I bought a Lifetime in Speakly (158€ for 4 subs) and found a lot of advantages of Lingvist. I love the 50 cards, percent of understanding motivation and great spaced repetition which is really makes you remember the words. Using Speakly I really think you need listening experience and recheck your phrases because some of them is not real life used.
