About this app

DeskDock allows you to share your computer's mouse and keyboard with your Android devices via a USB cable. The app enables you to control your Android device as if it was an additional monitor for your computer. Simply move your computer's mouse cursor over the screen boundaries to start controlling your Android devices.

Features
• Use your computer's mouse and keyboard with your Android devices
• Keyboard sharing supports international keyboards (eg Umlauts)
• Share clipboard between computer and Android devices
• Drag and Drop: Urls will be opened automatically, APKs will be installed
• Shortcuts for turning off screen, multitouch, quickly changing volume, screen brightness
• Supports Windows, Linux and macOS
• Works on all Android versions starting from 4.1
• NO rooted device required
• Connect multiple Android devices to one computer
• Flexible arrangement of devices
• Customizable mouse button actions
• Customizable mouse pointer speed

DeskDock can be considered the Android equivalent of Universal Control, the feature that implements similar functionality in iPadOS and macOS.

This app could also be described as an unofficial successor to ShareKM, or an Android version of Synergy. It could also be described as a Virtual KVM Switch or a Software KVM Switch solution.

On Android O and beyond, this app uses an Accessibility Service to display a mouse cursor above the System UI. This service is used exclusively for the described purpose and is an integral requirement to provide a consistent user experience for the users of the application, in particular those who suffer from motor impairment.

This app requires a free server application to run on your computer that can be downloaded here: http://bit.ly/DeskDockServerW. The Java Runtime version 1.7 or later is needed on the computer. Depending on your system, device drivers may have to be installed.

Important: Bugs and problems might cross your way. If something does not work, please do not write bad reviews, but send an email to the support email address listed below or in the app so I actually have a chance to help you or fix the issues. Thanks!

This app is wonderful. I keep my old phone (NEXUS 5) as a companion device for my PC and it is very convenient to be able to control both PC and the phone, sharing the mouse and the keyboard. In fact, I'm writing this review using the same keyboard. Only problem I'm experiencing is the mouse click stop registering after 5 - 7 hours of idling. Relaunching this app, DeskDockServer, or replugging the device will solve the problem temporarily. Thank you very much for making this app.

This is a really solid App, does what you want it too exactly when you want it to, only concern is that the desktop server app doesn't automatically start on PC launch, although this is easy to do manually if you drop an app shortcut into the startup folder. - Another point for some reason the mouse cursor on my phone screen isn't correctly centred, instead of adding a touch input at the cursor location it touched about 300 pixels to the left. Using XZ premium.

After the update to Android 8.0 the cursor no longer showed on screen. With no support website or clues as to how I can fix this it rendered the app useless. My issue was that when taking me to the accessibility menu, there was no option to grant the permissions DeskDock needed. As a last resort I reinstalled DeskDock and then the option appeared in the accessibility menu allowing the app to work again. I have changed my rating from 2 to 4 stars... it would be 5 if more support was offered by the developer, even in the form of a message telling users to reinstall if they face issues such as mine.

If you have troubles using the app, please send me an email, as listed within the app. Although I might not respond immediately, I do answer every reasonably polite email.
