A brief history of Egg Tapping:

During Great Lent, the season of repentance that precedes Easter, Christians abstain from meat, dairy, eggs, wine, and oil. This tradition is still held by Christians in the East and many in the West.

After the forty-day Lenten season concludes, eggs may be consumed again, giving rise to various Christian game-traditions such as "Egg Tapping."

Challengers tap the tips of their eggs together while giving the paschal salutation and response: "Christ is risen!" and, "Indeed (or "truly") He is risen!" Whoever's egg did not break wins the game.
